Lost

I'm not usually the sort to give inanimate objects human personalities. However, this photo I snapped back in 2009 really brings to mind a small child clutching her sole possession (a stuffed animal, or perhaps a blanket), lost in a crowd of people too busy to look down. Perhaps it has something to do with my recent thoughts on starting an orphanage, or my fears on birthing and raising a child of my own. Maybe it has to do with the news reports I read the other day on the ridiculous things children have been arrested for in their schools. Or how about all those stories you hear about all the horrible things that can happen to a little girl, particularly an orphan?

Amazing. When I first took this photo I was amused by how cute it looked ... I guess I'm just in a particularly jaded mood today.
